Dating Due For Nashville Nights? Do it, Dude.

Four Places To Get Lost! ...In Nashville ...In a Self-Reflective Way ...With a Partner, Maybe?

Just want to go ahead and say, you don't have to go on a date to enjoy going to these places. Take yourself on a date. It's very likely not self-obsessed to "date" yourself. Especially for those of us that enjoy watching life happen. Watching people go about their complex lives, just living in the moment. Especially, in more humble, tiny ways. It's like watching a huge cumulonimbus cloud, it just gives you perspective on how giant the world is.

Sappy prose about sentimental introversion aside, there's a town near me that's big.

It intimidates me, but sometimes things like that draw me in. It's Nashville.

Please understand that this article isn't about praising Nashville, or selling tourism.

I do not give a damn.

I do not identify with the values of Nashville. I could not, for 500 words, pretend to care about the symbolism of the Music City. What I care about is that delightfully dissonant sound of people talking over each other interspersed is a few laughs, a few expletives, and all of those human noises amalgamate into that hum. That hum plus no expectations, and feeling comfortably invisible is great.

Here are some places that I think where it could be great to just be with someone or otherwise.

207 Printers Alley

It's a street lined with several shops. At night, this line becomes alive with flourescent lights, food, karaoke, and pubs. The shopping strip allows for a variety of activities and exploration. What really I think sets the mood, are the towering buildings. It's overwhelming, in just the right way sometimes. I think that being lost in a group of people all enjoying themselves makes me feel calm. All that communion can be bit-isolating but- it also makes me feel very human.

Randor State Park

If you're having a people-averse day, or find yourself not wanting that sort of environment. Try some forest-bathing at Randor State Park. This is more in Oak Hill, just south of Nashville, but still. 1,368 acres of nature. There are trails, some for bike use, if you have access to one. See wildlife in motion. I wouldn't recommend personally going alone, but it is doable.

Up-Down Nashville

If you're a bit nerdy, and don't mind a little people, there's an arcade bar in Nashville. My fellow 21+ readers, all of whom drink responsibly of course, there are a bunch a classic video games at the bar. What sells me on this is the view of downtown you can get.

Drinks, video games, and place to wax poetic about homogeneity of people?

Prime dating spot.

Heck, bring friends. Date five of your friends!

While they all acknowledge this!

Riverfront Station

I love trains. The romantic quality of travel, the ease of access, the oxymoronic humble grandeur, and the fact that they go choo-choo! Immaculate.

Jokes aside, Riverfront Station is gorgeous. It can be the nexus of where ever you want to wander. The view of the river juxtaposed to the bustle of the city just adds another layer of life. The brick buildings that fill up the horizon give small town vibes. It just has the right proportions, y'know? You're small enough, and the world is big enough. It makes you just want to go see it all. It's just a matter of taking that step.

I hope you have the opportunity to do that.

Stay safe.
